The Junior band star in the Music for Youth concert at the Royal Albert Hall
On Sunday 15th January, the Youth Band held a workshop at the Dingle Primary School, Haslington, by kind permission of Mr B. Cox, the Headteacher, in preparation for their forthcoming participation at the Newcastle Music Festival in March.
The day began with a full band rehearsal, then members split into their sections for 2 rehearsals each side of lunch and the day ended with a full band rehearsal. It was very evident that considerable improvement had been made.
I would like to thank Anna Hughes-Williams, Claire Dixon, Jo Jeffels, Nicky Phillips, John Clark and John Beattie for giving up their Sunday to pass on their knowledge and experience to Band members, and to the group of parents who kept us going all day with refreshments. It all went together to make a superb day.
Thank you all very much.
Emma Clark. Musical Director The co-operative Youth Band.
Sponsorship and Fundraising.
For the last 16 years the youth band and latterly the junior and beginner bands have been supported by the co-operative group,
but a change in national policy brings this support to an end in December 2011. The bands are determined to continue by becoming a self supporting group through concerts, events and fund raising activities carried out by the bands and their supporters.
An easy way of raising funds for the bands is via webite called EasyFundraising.org.uk.
It will only take a few minutes of your time to set up and you can then use it every time you shop on line - just log onto their site first and follow the link to the retailer of your choice. An automatic donation from the retailer will be sent to us on a quarterly basis at no extra cost to you. We have checked with other organisations that use the system to great benefit.
It only takes a minute to register - Please follow this link: it will take you to the co-operative Youth Wind Bands easyfundraising page.
All of the most popular retailers are there - Amazon, ITunes, eBay and all of the supermarkets. Just scroll down and take a look.
So please tell family, friends and workmates and help us raise some extra cash for the bands funds. Everytime you log onto the site, you will see a running total of the funds raised so far for the co-operative Youth Wind Bands!
